My style of strobing and contouring!
Strobing is essentially highlighting parts of your face in a strobe like way which I interpret as being applied in more specifically located places. E.g brow bone, bridge of nose and forehead, cupidsbow and cheekbones.
I quite like to use foundations to do some base layer contouring, then use bronzers and powder products to go over the same then highlight over the light areas using a slightly pearlescent product either a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, Inika bronzer or the ever so subtle Arbonne Sheerglow highlighter which you can place exactly where you want.
Admittedly I think most makeup artists do this anyway and have always been doing it but now they have brought out these new words everyone thinks it's a new thing!!
As long as you know what areas to lighten (highlight) and which areas to darken (contour/shade), essentially it's like painting a face to create more drama and effect. More ups and downs, more hills and valleys. Which is always more exciting than a barren field to run through or looking at a blank canvas.
You can see here that I have applied the foundation after completing eye makeup and brows, and it is quite loosely applied on the left image. Then blend, blend, blend to achieve the look on the right. Et voila a naturally contoured look! No stripes or harsh lines to be seen...
Give it a go yourself and just remember to lightly blend blend blend! Good Luck! x
